Advice/Tips

Session Locations - I have a in-home studio right now, I have a goal to have a bigger building on our property very soon. I also have lots of ideas for outdoor session locations, and several go-to spots (natural or urban) that I love, and we’ll explore those options upon booking. Sessions can be booked just about anywhere, to a park or garden, and even downtown. If you have a favorite spot, definitely let me know so we can explore that idea together. Be sure to check out the galleries link for location inspiration.

Scheduling – Sessions generally book 1 to 2 months in advance. If you are interested in scheduling a newborn session, please contact me before your baby is born. The best time to photograph a newborn is in the first two weeks.

Session Deposit- All of my sessions require a deposit to secure your session date and time in my calendar. The amount of the deposit required varies, depending on the session. This non-refundable retainer serves to reserve a photographer and assistant, when necessary, for your session. This payment is applied towards your session's total and is a requirement to schedule.

If scheduling your session over the phone, you can make your deposit payment at that time. If scheduling online, you'll receive a payment request for your deposit via email with a secure link through Paypal to make your online deposit payment. You online payment can be made with your Paypal account.

Once we've received your deposit, you'll receive an invoice via email that shows your remaining balance and outlines your session. You can pay the remaining balance of your session online at any time using the link in your invoice or in person on the day of your session.

What to Wear– Once your session is booked, I’ll provide plenty of information and recommendations on session styling and wardrobe selection. For more information, check out my Pinterest What to Wear Board.

What to Expect– My sessions are very casual and relaxed. You can expect me to show up in my favorite pair slippers or barefoot. I love getting to know the people and families I photograph, so don’t be concerned when I immediately chat up your family and kids right off the bat.

With in-home newborn sessions, I start off the session by walking around your home in search of the best light. I’ve been known to rearrange a room or two of furniture. Hey, whatever it takes to capture the best photos, right?!

After your session, you can expect approximately 30-100 unique, digitally enhanced images in an online proofing gallery.
